Meet our Founder
Rachel Balmuth founded Educating the Heart in 2019 following a lifetime of study in the Arts and a 15 year career as an educator and alternative therapeutic professional. Some of her many positions have included behavioral therapist, Autism Movement Therapist, Academic Arts Integration Teacher, Educator’s Professional Development coach, sensory and motor integration professional, parent coach, Group Home Administrator, and dancer/choreographer. Rachel has developed through these pursuits a unique understanding of the relationship between mind, body, and soul, and believes in a whole-person approach to overcoming the many challenges experienced in life.
Having provided direct client care as well as family-centered support in educational, residential, and home settings, Rachel brings to her clients and partners a flexibility in understanding the interaction between development and environment. She is experienced with numerous diagnoses across the developmental and affective spectrum and offers compassionate, research-informed services to those interested in exploring their personal growth through a non-traditional lens. Using energy, movement, storytelling, art, and mindfulness Rachel brings an integrative approach to clients desiring a more hands-on therapeutic experience. The coaching and energy-work services offered by Educating the Heart are a wonderful match for individuals seeking individualized or group-based services, and Rachel’s rich understanding of how physical and emotional development impacts cognitive engagement brings professional partners a stronger ability to empower students and clients in their intellectual pursuits.
